A deal has finally been hammered out for Dana Delany to take a leave from ABC’s Desperate Housewives to shoot the alphabet net’s fall pilot, Body of Evidence.

“The networks have become like the old studio system where they have their stable of actors," Dana tells me. "They want to hold on to them and see what else they can do with them, so (ABC president) Steve McPherson said, ‘Would you consider doing another show,' and I said, ‘I love Housewives, but this is the lead role and something different.’ It’s one of those bountiful things. I love the show I have, but they’re offering me the lead.’“

The series, which starts shooting this week, will team Dana with actors John Carroll Lynch (The Drew Carey Show and Carnivale), Trust Me's Geoffrey Arend (husband of Mad Men's Christina Hendricks) and Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager, Shark, Law and Order: SVU.

Housewives creator Marc Cherry is writing out her character, Katherine Mayfair, so that she can head out of town to shoot the pilot over the next couple weeks.

“But if her pilot doesn’t fly, she’ll be coming back,” Cherry tells TV Guide Magazine exclusively. “ABC asked me if they could give Dana her own show, but if that doesn’t work, she’s got a place waiting for her.” Dana says her Housewives boss promised he would not kill her off.

Vampire diaries scoop at Paley Center

Many of the cliffhangers fans were left with when the last original episode aired will be addressed on March 25, when the next original episode, titled "A Few Good Men," airs. Paley guests were treated to an advance screening of the episode, which (trust us) takes Damon's cruelty to a whole new level. By the end of the hour, you'll be left wondering how Elena can ever even speak to him again. "Some truths are revealed and the episode ends on a major bang," teases Paul Wesley (Stefan). He's not kidding.

With Elena (Nina Dobrev) just having learned she's adopted, she begins a dangerous search for her birth mother, whom keen viewers know shares a connection to Alaric Saltzman. The revelations, says Nina Dobrev (Elena) will "intensify her love/hate relationship with Damon. His actions to achieve what he wants are truly horrible."

But the episode offers more light-hearted moments, as Damon takes part in a charity bachelor auction alongside Alaric. "It's a lot of fun," teases Ian Somerhalder (Damon). A future episode will find Damon meeting up with Matt's mom, Kelly (The O.C.'s Melinda Clarke) at a bar. "Much to the chagrin of Matt," Somerhalder says. "They hit it off and end up hooking up."

One face was absent from the episode - Katerina Graham, who plays Bonnie Bennett. She'll be off the canvas for three episodes "grieving the death of Grams", explains creator Kevin Williamson. "She goes off to stay with family, but comes back with an attitude."

Adds co-executive producer Julie Plec: "Bonnie's been nothing but supportive of Elena's relationship with Stefan up until this point, but
given everything that's happened -- the tomb didn't quite get closed and Grams died for nothing, it's going to be difficult for her to be a good friend."

If you haven't heard by now, the former Dexter star is currently guesting on the ABC series as Robin, a lesbian stripper who gets mighty close to Katherine (Delany).

We'll not only see them lock lips, but...

"This is the first time on Wisteria Lane that you'll see two women doing more than just kissing," Delany told us at this weekend's StandUp For Kids/Los Angeles at the G2 Gallery in Venice. "We're taking things to the next level. I get to do it. I'm very honored."

Describing their first smooch as a "long kiss" rather than just a peck, Delany said she has absolutely no problem with engaging in some girl-on-girl action. "It's fun," she said. "I've worked with Julie before. We have so much fun!"

Desperate Housewives offers a girl-girl liplock in March between cuckoo Katherine (Dana Delany) and Susan’s stripper friend, Robin, played by Dexter’s Julie Benz. “Everyone assumed I was going to come in and break up someone’s marriage, but there’s a whole different twist,” says Julie, who appreciates Dana smelling “very pretty” and not having facial hair like her last on-screen lover, Michael C. Hall.

“This kiss comes out of a funny moment where we’re trying to ditch some guys,” says Julie. But something very real develops, which is exciting for Dana. “I guessed it,” she says. “I asked, ‘Am I becoming a man?’ And [creator] Marc Cherry said, ‘Close.’” Dana compares Katherine’s realization to recently un-closeted actress Meredith Baxter. “For a woman in her fifties to make this announcement to her community is huge,” says Dana. “I hope it sticks.”

Julie and Dana became friends years ago when they costarred in a failed “Scarface”-type TV pilot. So how long will these naughty girls play house? “I’m now up to four episodes, but they have an option for more,” says Julie. “I’m bribing the writers with cupcakes.”

Ahem. Everybody must watch this week's Fringe (but especially you Emily in Tallahassee, Fla.) even if you've been wavering a bit on that series. Something that we've been waiting to see since the pilot finally (finally!) happens. The scenes in question are totally gratifying (albeit rushed a bit, when this subplot might have been better served with a little foreplay preamble), but then what we are given is snatched away again, in totally heartbreaking and perfect TV form. Excellent work, Bad Robots. Can't wait to see what happens next

Turns out, Stefan might inadvertently be the reason Katherine was locked up in the tomb, hence Damon's desire to free her, and his unexplained hatred of his little bro.

Ed Westwick himself says of Gossip Girl's upcoming storylines, "It all gets set on its side. Everything goes upside down. Things are going to get even more dramatic than they always are." And Gossip boss Josh Schwartz tweeted, "Trust. #ChuckandBlair." Believe the man. Josh is the one who made Chuck and Blair so awesome in the first place, and he wouldn't be breaking them up unless it was part of a greater plan, right?

Chloe in Grand Island, Neb.: I approve of the casting of Billy Baldwin (although John Slattery would have been ideal) as Serena's dad on Gossip Girl, but I now have to know before I get too excited. Is Daddy van der Woodsen completely evil, or does he have any redeeming qualities?
I'm told we'll see that William van der Woodsen does want to get back into Serena and Eric's life on Gossip Girl. That doesn't mean he's a pure good guy—his motives for seeing them could be totally dark side—but at least he's no longer totally dissing his own children.

But if Paul has his say—which we're guessing he will—he's totally on board. "It'd be fantastic. And I played a wolf on a series called Wolf Lake, which was a very short-lived show on CBS, so I love the idea of it because I've done it."

Seriously, will those angsty three ever be happy? Not any time soon, and as Ian Somerhalder puts it, Elena may start leaning towards a different Salvatore brother. "Damon's very truthful when he speaks. Even when he's a deviant bastard, he's still telling the truth," he explains. "Elena feels that she's been lied to by Stefan. [But] in Stefan's defense, he essentially had to lie to her to protect her."

Oh, where to begin? Let's start with the gorgeous Ryan Kwanten, who has some major storylines this season. First among those storylines, Ryan says, is that "Jason finally falls in what he thinks is love. It's a pretty rare, unknown concept for him." Awww...Plus, Ryan tells us of Jason's future, "The fact that my character is dealing with the fact that he really has killed someone now is pretty crazy, and there's a whole host of new characters. There's the addition of werewolves coming in. We're using real wolves. It's crazy. I've yet to work with them. I'll work with them later on in the season, but I'm looking forward to it."

Dobrev: Ian has this vampire quality, but Paul has fangs. [Wesley shows off his pointy canines.] And he just appears places and he’s very brooding.

Actors always love to play baddies. Are either of you a little jealous Ian gets to play the devilish Damon?
Dobrev: I’m lucky because I get to play two characters: sweet Elena and Katherine, who’s a crazy bitch.
Wesley: What’s cool about our characters is that they’re not one-dimensional. Damon has some good in him and Stefan has some evil in him.

Well, in upcoming flashbacks, you get to play the innocent Stefan and Damon instead of their undead personas.
Somerhalder: It’s fun to play Damon and Stefan as friends because you never usually see us that way.
Wesley: Pre-vampire Stefan is so uncomplicated, it’s fun. But Stefan 145 years later is really heavy. What 162-year-old wants to hang out with high-school kids? Somebody who’s escaping what they are.

It’s Team Damon versus Team Stefan! Whom do you think fans want Elena to be with?
Wesley: I’m president of the Team Damon fan club. I have a Facebook page as 13-year-old Ashley, who subtly manipulates people into hating Damon.
Somerhalder: [Laughter] So that’s why you yell at me to go away when I knock on your door!
Dobrev: Fans are so split. I get letters like, “Why did you break up with Stefan? You’re perfect together.” Then, “Why isn’t Elena with Damon? They belong together.”

Dobrev: I would take Defan—the other brother.

EW scoop : William Baldwin joins Gossip Girl

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Gossip Girl has tapped the former Dirty Sexy Money star to play the pivotal role of Serena and Eric’s estranged father, William van der Woodsen.

A show spokesperson declined to comment, but I’m told Baldwin is booked to appear in at least three episodes; his first airdate is slated for April.

Up all night with the cast of Vampire Diaries.

Those well acquainted with Serena and Little J may find this fact hard to believe: Vampire Diaries, The CW's budding show about bloodsuckers and the teen girls who love and / or get eaten by them, has double the number of Gossip Girl viewers.

What makes it such a hit? It could be the current cultural zeitgeist of Edward, Bella, Sookie, Bill, and immortal drama. It could be the lingering teen appeal of star Nina Dobrev (remember her from Degrassi?). Or maybe it's just damn fun and funny.

Luke Crisell - who calls the show "like Dawson's Creek with less talk and more action" - sat down with the cast of and asked them himself.

On the similarities between Twilight, True Blood, and Vampire Diaries: "When the show first started... you automatically thought Twilight. Ian Somerhalder probably didn’t expect his role as the deliciously devilish Damon on The Vampire Diaries would get him in trouble with his old colleagues on Lost. Or at least with their children.

The actor tells TV Guide Magazine that Damon was just too bad one night for Matthew Fox’s daughter. The “sweet, hyper-intelligent 12-year-old" was none too pleased that Damon engineered the staking death of his goodie vamp brother Stefan’s BFF Lexie.

“It’s 1:30 in the morning—there’s a six hour time difference between Hawaii and Atlanta—and Matthew calls me and says, ‘Listen, dude, she wants to talk to you. You need to justify some things to her. She’s not happy with you.’ So she drilled me with these questions and I was explaining my actions and saying, ‘There are times when you find yourself in situations that you may have to hurt someone for the betterment of the family, which is what Damon was doing.’ And every time I’d start explaining something, she’d go ‘Yep, uh huh. And...?' It was an interesting hour for me!"

The dirty deed was all "so Damon could make himself look like a vampire killer who’s helping the town council and the sheriff,” says the actor, adding that we should look for more of Damon playing double agent in future episodes. We’re in fang heaven.

Riddle me this, Vampire Diaries fans: Executive Producer Julie Plec just told us, "The actress Nina Dobrev has kissed Ian Somerhalder but the character of Elena has not."

Say whosey whatsey what now?

Is Julie hinting that these two hot-as-fire co-stars are now a bonafide couple who are smooching behind the scenes?

Well…

No sillies!

She's talking about--spoiler alert!--that other character Nina plays on TVD: Katherine.

[For the record, we aren't the only ones who were a wee bit stumped when Julie said the above statement at the TV Critics winter press tour tonight. Nina herself had to whisper the explanation to Paul Wesley.]

It seems Katherine (Nina) and Damon (Ian) will share some hot and steamy screentime in an upcoming episode.

"There's a big episode coming up that's all about Katherine," Nina told me exclusively after the panel session with reporters. "I love playing her because she's everything I'm not and I can get it all out of my system. I actually have modeled the character after Ian's performance of Damon, because he does it so well." So the chemistry is palpable, friends!

"I think what Elena will learn," Ian (Damon) tells me, "is that even though he is a diabolical jerk, Damon speaks the truth. He does not lie. And Stefan (Paul Wesley) has lied to her. So Damon will win Elena over in that capacity. And who's to say Stefan isn't a little bit evil anyway? He definitely has some evil in him."

Here's what else we learned:

"The cork will be pulled on the whole basement thing," boss Kevin Williamson teases. "Before the first season is over."

"Vicki is definitely dead and won't be coming back," Kevin said when a reporter asked why Kayla Ewell (Vicki) said she wasn't really dead.

The IMDB synopsis that says Elena will become a vampire in the next episode "is completely false," boss Julie Plec said. As I teased a few weeks back, the unlikely pair will be taking a road trip (against her will) and it will lead to the blossoming of the full-fledged love triangle, with the first glimmers of a possible Damon and Elena pairing. "It's not a love triangle with only two people and," Nina says. "And now that the necklace is off, she's very vulnerable. In the next episodes we're going to see there's going to be a lot of Damon and Elena."

And one half the fanbase goes whoooooo.

I got chance to see this episode today.
First let's remember the situation at the end of the last episode

"If..." - In the aftermath of the plane crash, the residents of Wisteria Lane reflect on what their lives might have been had they made different choices, on ABC's "Desperate Housewives," SUNDAY, JANUARY 3 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET). Susan contemplates a life with Karl had she not left him; Bree considers life without Orson; Lynette thinks about a future with her unborn twins; Carlos reflects on how Gaby would be as an over-protective mom; and Angie ponders the consequences should her secrets be revealed.

Dh is always a show where you can have funny moments and tragic moments in the same episode. It happened here too
I can say Susan (Teri Hatcher) brings the funny part of the "If" moment, Gaby (Eva Longoria Parker) a bit but not very long, the first and second scenes. Bree (Marcia Cross) and Lynette (Felicity Huffmanand) also, Angie (Drea de Matteo), it was the tragic and emotional moments.
It's true when you ended the episode you don't know WHO survived, or what will be the future of some of the housewives now
When the episode started you can know who survived but some futures can't be so sure yet and even at the end of the episode, you still not know WHAT future it can be.
IF was a great episode.
I loved seeing Susan's life while she was staying with Karl (Richard Burgi) and see how her first meeting with Mike (James Denton) happened and It was great to see Susan and Karl sharing scenes, they're funny together, I always liked their relationship 'cause of karl's behaviour lol
Gaby brings the part where you want to say to her "let it be", let's your girl free of her life and you wish she could listen you but you can see also what daughter can do for their mom (which it can be true IF you accepted to let your mom chose your life)
Angie's future can bring us 'clue" of what she did without really to tell us anything clearly yet, we don't know her very well but her "IF" moment it's something I don't wish for her.
For me the one of Bree and Lynette were the best emotionally (even if Gaby could be on the list too). The two scenes I loved are the two last of their "IF" moments.
But I also loved a moment Lynette shared with her new son Patrick, about a sandwich 'cause it can show how strong she can be and want him to be too.

With their "IF" scenes, I can say future can be changed, mistake was made but it can be fixed or at least thing can change, it's not too late.

DH ended in a way where you know, the crash will make them deal with a lot of things but also remind them, futures can be changed IF we want it to be.

Your life is spared. An inside source tells me that Jenny and Chuck don't really have any big storylines together this season, so I'm assuming Josh meant Jenny will have a big storyline and Chuck will have a big storyline, but they are not the same storyline. Chuck's story involves the possible surprise return of his believed-to-be-dead mother (and Jack Bass), and Jenny's involves another couple she comes between...guesses?

Josh Schwartz: You're really going to see a real emotional arc from Chuck [Ed Westwick]. I think Jenny [Taylor Momsen] and Chuck are really going to be driving a lot of story as we move into the back half of the season.

TVGuide.com: Jenny and Eric (Connor Paolo) called a truce in the last episode. Will that actually stick?
Schwartz: They've called a truce with each other, but Jenny's troubles are just beginning. She's still very much a teenage girl, she's grown up with these kids who are older than her and always wanted to be a part of that, but she's going to find out that she's not quite as adult and grown up as she thinks she is.

TVGuide.com: Blair (Leighton Meester) and Chuck's relationship seems to be going smoothly this season.
Schwartz: Yeah, although there was that moment at the end of the episode where Chuck saw that mysterious woman at his father's grave. That's really going to be a big part of it. We really want to move Chuck back into the forefront of the ensemble for a portion of these back episodes. You'll have to watch and see if it's his mother.

TVGuide.com: Serena seems to be lost this season, with jumping from guy to guy and switching careers.
Schwartz: Well, she was trying to find her dad, and failing that, there's certainly an issue she's been dealing with in finding men in her life that will fill that void. She's lurched from guy to guy as she's trying to make sense of that missing figure in her life.

TVGuide.com: Will she be able to redeem herself?
Schwartz: That is her journey for the rest of the season. It's a journey of redemption and maturity and understanding why she's doing the things she's doing and taking back control of that.

TVGuide.com: Will she continue to mess up along that journey?
Schwartz: Oh yeah, tons. It's Gossip Girl.

TVGuide.com: Are we going to meet Mr. van der Woodsen this season?
Schwartz: We are going to continue to explore Serena's quest for her father. Obviously he resurfaced in Lily's [Kelly Rutherford] life and was in that letter that caused so much controversy at Christmas and Thanksgiving. That has definitely been set up.

TVGuide.com: Why did you decide to pursue the Dan and Vanessa story line this season? It can obviously become very complicated being friends.
Schwartz: Yeah, and that's going to be something that they're going to explore. They've been friends for so long. She had feelings for him awhile ago and then he discovers he has feelings for her. Can they have feelings for each other and still remain friends is going to be a big question that we're going to tackle. I really like them together. I think you can bet on them exploring the complexities of their friendship.

TVGuide.com: There was a lot of controversy surrounding the threesome among Dan, Vanessa and Olivia (Hilary Duff). It wasn't as crazy as people were making it out to be.
Schwartz: We were surprised when it generated as much controversy as it did. Especially in that first episode, it wasn't so outrageous and a shock to the world. I actually really liked it because I thought it felt very, very real and tentative and it had big emotional repercussions for the characters. I like the way the writers designed it and it wasn't just for shock value, but was actually being done to move story and explore these character dynamics.

TVGuide.com: Do you see any futures episodes of plot lines that will cause this kind of controversy again?
Schwartz: Keep your eye on little Jenny Humphrey.

I'm missing them having a big storyline together. I'm so tired of Blair's NYU storyline. Are they gonna have more scenes together?
Nothing earth-shattering coming up on the Chuck and Blair front, sorry. As I told you here, there is going to be huge drama with Jack Bass returning and the possible return of Chuck's possibly not-dead mother. (Say it with me now: Mother Chucker!) And Chuck will have a surprising encounter at his father's graveside on the anniversary of his death. All that said, the good news I can share on Chair or Bluck or whatever clever name you call them is this: Chuck and Blair are not breaking up any time this season, according to my solid source. And they say TV love can't last!

Felicia in Rockland, Maine: It is not Orson who will be killed off Desperate Housewives (although that is what they want you to believe). But everyone is in for a surprise when they find out it is actually Karl not Orson who will be killed off in the plane crash episode. Think about it. More than one housewife will be affected meaning Bree and Susan. And in future episodes, Susan will inherit a strip club which Karl leaves in his will. There will also be an episode where the girls flash forward and think about the future and Bree wonders what life would be like if it was Orson who had died instead of Karl. Also Karl has been on the show since season one which that would explain that clue also. Just wanted to let you know.
Unless your name is actually "Felicity" I am chalking this up as a rumor, missy! But we do know it is not Orson (Kyle himself told us so much), and I wouldn't be surprised if Karl is the one to go. We shall see...

According to Fringe exec producer Jeff Pinkner, here's what you can look forward to in upcoming episodes: "We deal with an outbreak-type condition...[There's] an episode that's really big and fun and crazy about how what it is that we think we're seeing isn't necessarily the truth. And in a couple of episodes, we drop a bombshell for our characters and one of the big dormant secrets, one of the bombs of the table, as it were, goes off. Perhaps it will be blow apart our team, and certainly it will change the nature of their relationship. We delve a little bit more directly with the alternate universe and what's going on over there and how it may affect our world. Flashfoward shuts down the production

Sources confirm to me exclusively that ABC has temporarily shut down production on the rookie drama. The move comes a month after the departure of co-showrunner, Marc Guggenheim, and less than a week after FlashForward hit a new ratings low.

An Alphabet spokesperson confirms the shutdown, but is quick to note that the show’s schedule was designed to accommodate such breaks. “They started production early so that they could have the luxury to do this,” says the rep. “They want to maintain the high quality of the show, and this gives the writers the opportunity to do so.”

FlashForward’s lull won’t be nearly as long as the month-long creative hiatus ABC imposed over at V. The Alphabet rep says FF — which airs its mid-season finale on Dec. 3 — will resume production on Monday after just a six-day break.

my review on V episode " it's only the beginning"

yes, i saw it fews hours ago and as for the season premiere, i wanted to share with you my opinion without to reveal the cliffhanger 'cause it worth it !
wow, what can i say ? first, thing will move fast in the episode and at the same, some things aren't resolved yet, if it was V could end right now don't you think ?
epi 1x03 ended with the first team fighter against the V, it will continue at this point, they're ready to fight the V but don't mean everyone trust eachother. We can't forget Ryan (Morris Chestnut) is a "V" right ? Someone else will find about it and if you saw the sneak peek under it, you'll know WHO !

second, get in memory the name "Peter Combs" it's in some way the "key" of what it will happen in the episode.

Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Tyler (Logan Huffman) relationship aren't the same since the V arrived, don't seem to be better in this episode. Tyler's fate will be changed forever ? I don't know, but he finds another road for now and as Lisa (Laura Vandervoort) said "tyler is the one". Lisa and Anna have very interesting mother and daughter relationship, in contrary of Tyler and Erica, women are close and know exactly what they want (or WHO)...
By the way, Tyler will meet someone in some circumstances and it's someone close of a V.

Jack (Joel Gretsch) changed too since the V and their real face appeared to him, is he ready to leave God or not ?

Chad (Scott Wolf) is manipulated (as many people, ok almost all in the world lol) by Anna (Morena Baccarin), seem things will not be different and will happen in another LEVEL.

Speaking of Anna, she's beautiful but inside she's not, you'll start to see what can happen when you betrayed Anna...

The Vs will find a way to be more close of the human and the manipulation will be Huge, you really can't stop them, i think it's inevitable, Anna "got" humans, she's smart and trusted.

By the way, two kinda triangle will be created on the episode, (not involving romance) !

I can say some character's life will be changed after the end of the episode, for good or bad but it will definitively change their life.
One fate, shocked me, ok i could say too but it's for two different reason, I can't say many things just the one i was shocked involved a man.

The very final moment of the episode is so much HUGE than you can just wonder what it will happen next....Anna is smart and Evil ! yes EVIL !

What can i say to end my post ? The waiting will be long, I dunno if it was worst to wait for the second episode this summer or to wait for episode 1x05 now ? lol ok I could say this one 'cause, V got me and i'm not ready to let it go ^^
I love all characters even if I've very BIG crush on Elizabeth Mitchell and I can say, i'm scared of Anna but not Morena Baccarin lol

The episode is just the beginning of the V vs human or i could say team against V. The war started and for now, we can't really know who will win 'cause who can you really trust ? ;)

Or will he actually start to hate it after being fairly ambivalent before?

Ausiello: I like FlashForward just fine. The problem is I don’t love it. And if last week’s living room showdown between Joseph Fiennes and Sonya Walger’s future lover is a preview of the kind of painfully heavy-handed schlock to come, I may have to bail soon. The good news? This week’s episode is supposed to be a vast improvement. I hear we may even find out the significance of the Blue Hand.

Contaminated cosmonauts and conspiratorial cover-ups abound. Plus, who knew the “Intelligence” in “Central Intelligence Agency” was extraterrestrial? (Okay, I kinda did.)

Homer Simpson gets 'Desperate'

Christmas will be coming early for the ladies of Wisteria Lane — December 6 — but along with it will be a surprise from a special visitor: Homer Simpson. Okay, so maybe the big yellow buffoon won't be coming to Desperate Housewives in his animated form, but Dan Castellaneta, who voices Homer, will be making a rather large crash on the show. Pun very, very much intended.

I say that because Castellaneta will be playing the role of an airplane pilot who crashes his small plane into Christmas trees. And kills people. "The accident will be caused by a series of mishaps involving Dan’s character and his shrewish wife, played by Caroline Aaron," TV Guide reports. Sounds like typical Housewives fare.

While I'm not sure there's much of a crossover appeal between the two shows (they appeal to entirely different demographics), those who find themselves in the middle of the Venn diagram might get a kick out of Castellaneta's appearance, and the probable thousands of poorly veiled Simpsons references that will most likely ensue.

In the end, Vicki was unable to control her newbie vampire hunger, and it cost her her life. The Vampire Diaries executive producer Kevin Williamson talks to TVGuide.com about how and why they decided to kill Vicki (Kayla Ewell), what her death will mean for Jeremy and whether Vicki could return.

TVGuide.com: Why did you decide to kill Vicki?
Kevin Williamson: No one's safe on this show. We've reached the point when we're watching TV that there's no jeopardy, no risk, no stakes, when we know our lead characters aren't going to be killed. Well, that's not true on this show. I'm starting with the supporting characters and I'm working my way in. Everyone's going to die on this show. This is a show where characters you love may die, and it'll be unexpected and shocking, so get ready for it. It's as simple as that. And [Vicki] was the first casualty.

Vampire Diaries: Vicki is the female Damon

TVGuide.com: It must have been a tough decision.
Williamson: I thought what [Ewell] did in ["You're Undead to Me," when Vicki and Jeremy fight and Damon first feeds on Vicki] was brilliant and I loved her and I was so sad to see her go, but I wasn't quite sure how to play that story out beyond having her continue on as a vampire. We had to turn our attention to other stories. We were ignoring our other characters. You know, we've got Matt, Tyler, Bonnie, we want to dive into those characters, and just to have a vampire lingering out there was a little, I don't know -- we thought [her death] would be impactful.

TVGuide.com: Why now, when she just became a vampire?
Williamson: Where would that story go? A love story between a vampire and a guy? We're watching that on True Blood. And it's beautiful on True Blood. It doesn't mean we can't tell that same story in a different way, but we have other plans for Jeremy. I like Jeremy, I like bringing another guy to the show. I take him down another road. He has a big story line coming up. It begins when Alaric [a new teacher] shows up.

Vampire Diaries' Katerina Graham: "Anyone can die"

TVGuide.com: Did you ever consider killing anyone else first?
Williamson: Well, no, we just thought this would end a chapter, Vicki would be the first vampire staked on our show. It was exciting to see it go down. She dies beautifully. It's really sad because this is about Jeremy. We're dealing with two people who have lost their parents. You can only imagine what it's going to do to him. It's pretty powerful, good stuff.

TVGuide.com: Since we're talking about vampires here, I have to ask: Is there a chance that Vicki could return?
Williamson: No. She could come back in a flashback or a dream. But no, she's done. I mean, she goes. She's dead. Dead is dead. I guess there's always a way, but I don't think so.

What did you think about Vicki's death? What does it mean that Elena was bit just before Vicki died? Do you think Damon's mind-erase on Jeremy will stick?

Desperate Housewives: Marc Cherry has extended his contract with ABC Studios for another two years, which could keep Desperate Housewives on the air through at least 2013. Of course the big question is whether the cast's main players—Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria Parker, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross—will want to go that long. They're currently only committed through the 2010-2013 season. And let's face it, with all the natural disasters on Wisteria Lane (tornadoes, planes falling out of the sky), it'd be a bloody miracle if anyone survived that long.

D'oh! Simpsons actor Dan Castellaneta will play the pilot of the small plane that will crash on Desperate Housewives, mowing over a few people along the way. We suppose Greg Grunberg wasn't available?
